Planters are one of the easiest ways to add a little pizzaz to a porch, patio or garden space. Over the years, I’ve been guilty of buying cheap, plastic containers that were on trend or because I needed something quickly. This year, I’ve really tried to focus on buying quality, stone planters to accent our outdoor home spaces and the garden.
I won’t lie, stone planters are investment pieces. They’re usually more costly than their plastic counterparts due to the manufacturing process and shipping. But when it comes right down to it, they really stand the test of time in quality, strength and from a design perspective, especially if you tend to veer towards a traditional style like I do.
Here are some of my favorite stone planters and pots this season. Some of these I own, and some I wish that I owned.
Our planters
The stone planters we own include the medium-sized Eclectic Villa Planter and the tall-sized Sienna Planter. Both are real stone planters and more of an investment than plastic planters or planters made of fiberglass to look like stone. I used the Eclectic Villa Planters on the front porch for the season where I filled them with the following flowers and plants.
Thriller
- Lavender tree
Filler
- Supertunia Bordeau
- Icicle
- Diamond Snow
- Ageratum Hybrid Artist Blue
- New Guinea Impatients Harmony Snow
- Oregano
Spillers
- Lemon Mint
- Lobularia Hybrid White Knight
- English Ivy
The tall Sienna planters actually just arrived so I haven’t had a chance to plant them yet. But as soon as I do, I’ll let you know and do a full review of both these stone planters.
I’m also considering getting the Artisan Terra Cotta Planter to go near a stone flower bed we have built. I’m also debating the White Belly XXL planter for the patio near the barn, but I think that might have to wait since it is the most costly on the list. But I want to plant some trees over in that space for shade and I need a very large planter to make that work.
Thank you so much for visiting today, friends! I hope these planters have inspired you to make the outside of your home beautiful this season. Please let me know if you have any questions below. And for more posts about gardening, click {HERE}.
