Come see our 4th of July tablescape for our holiday celebration and get inspiration for your holiday too!
Growing up, 4th of July was always a special holiday. We always spent the holiday at my grandmother’s house. The memories of hunting fireflies, grilling hot dogs and lining up on the curb for fireworks are burned into my soul. Anytime the temperature hits the 80’s on a warm summer night and the fireflies come out, I can be transported right back to those moments when my grandfather would light off fireworks in the street. We would, “Oooh”, and, “Ah” over each one and go home dirty, happy and with a belly full of desserts.
Celebrating the 4th on the farm
On the farm now, I would say we’ve struggled to get into our groove with this holiday. Because all our family comes later in the month for our birthdays, we don’t tend to have a lot of company for the nations birthday. And fireworks scare all of our animals and the neighbor’s horses. So we’ve floundered a bit.
But this year, Kevin’s parents are planning on coming to visit. We might invite some neighbors over for some good food and outdoor fun too. I think throwing the sprinkler up in the side yard, grilling some hot dogs and having a good ol’ classic 4th of July celebration is just what we need.
My 4th of July Tablescape
To prep for a little Independence Day company I put together this 4th of July tablescape to act as a buffet station for the holiday. I generally like to keep things casual when it’s hot out and serving everyone from one place really works well. My 4th of July tablescape was inspired by classic Americana. I wanted it to have a slight vintage feel but also still feel fun enough that that kids would enjoy it too.
Since I was setting this up in the barn, I already knew there would be a lot of wood elements. The vintage table in there is one I use often in my tablescapes because I love the natural feel. The doors are actually doors I bought for my office. But, they’re too tall and we would have to do some construction work to make them fit. (They’re now someday doors. As in someday my dreams will come true and they will be my office doors.) However, they make a great backdrop for this and other tablescapes.
Classic Americana
I wanted to highlight the wood elements but still make it feel like classic Americana. So I added in galvanized elements like the 3-tier stand, silverware bucket, glass drink dispensers and some cute candleholders I found at the Target dollar spot. I also add in enamelware elements like the serving bowl full of popcorn and the hotdog tray that really bring in a timeless feel, and there weather proof so that’s always a bonus for summer entertaining. The classic black and white with the clean lines contrasts the country/shabby chic elements. It creates a lasting look that works whatever the decade.
All the food things
For the 4th of July tablescape food, I also wanted to stick with classic summer items. So I put together a hotdog tray, added some butter popcorn, chips and pretzels as snack food, Then I used corn on the cob as a great summer side dish option. I also knew I wanted to serve lemonade as the main drink and use our real, glass mason jar mugs. For the actual celebration on the 4th of July we will probably make this Easy Berry Trifle {HERE} and this Red, White & Blue Mocktail {HERE}, but in this case for a little fun evening, cookies worked too.
Here’s a pro party hosting tip too. If making food for a party feels like a lot of work and it’s making you flustered, buy the desserts or appetizers. Or if you have the money have the party catered. We used to have big celebrations when we lived in the suburbs for the kids’ birthdays. We would always order food from Portillos or a sub shop and then make sides and desserts to make it easier.
A few more simple things
To plus up the 4th of July tablescape a bit, I added in the stars and stripes pendant banner {HERE}, some small pinwheels and wooden stars. I believe adding a few elements like this can really make the whole look of the tablescape feel complete.

LOVE this look! I am so into the vintage farmhouse look and I love the enamel wear. I’ve got to check out that tray.
I love this! It almost makes me wish I had decorated for the 4th. As it is, I’m not thrilled with this country right now so I didn’t.
I love this look so much. Very on point with the things I have in my own home already! Just speaks to me!
I love this farmhouse inspiration for 4th of July. Its something simple to decorate yet festive. I love the tier serving tray too!
Wow, that’s a really nice set up. I really love this. It looks so beautiful.
I love the farmhouse look, and I’m so jealous of the Galvanized tiered tray. Lovely tablescape. Glad you had a fun and hopefully SAFE 4th of July!
Wow! This is so amazing I am so inlove with this look! As for me we didn’t decorate on the 4th pf July but I’m gonna make sure next time we’ll do it!
I really love the farmhouse look! It is so perfect! I wish we could decorate our house just like this!
I enjoyed this tablescape. I wish I had seen it before the 4th. I was feeling rather down, yet this is cheerful and fun.
I love this 4th of July tablescape. It is so beautiful and so perfect for today’s celebration.
The 4th of July always has such a fun set of traditional and icon foods and these hit the mark! Great job!
It looks like you had a fun & festive 4th of July! I love the tiered tray that you used to add food, looks like it saved lots of tabletop room by doing that.
These are cute ideas. I will be trying some of them at my next party.
Your Farmhouse 4th of July Celebration looks so fun and beautiful too. Saving your ideas for next year!
I personally love celebrating 4th of July. What can be better spending time with your family and good food.
I love your set up. I’m not a huge fan of a big 4th of July celebration. We typically go to the park where they set off fireworks and have sandwiches. This year we grabbed MCDonalds and got to the firework show about 20 minutes before it started. It was good but I wish they played music with it.
I’m from the UK and I’d love to spend July 4th in your country! Your decor looks so perfect for the occasion.
