Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips - milk, semi sweet or dark chocolate
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 TBSP. vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1 tsp. salt

Instructions

  • Add the milk and heavy cream to a pan on the stove and heat through on a medium to low flame. Whisk regularly.
  • Once slightly heated, add the cocoa powder and sugar and whisk well to combine until the sugar and the cocoa powder completely dissolve. Scrape the sides as needed to ensure all the cocoa powder is combined.
  • Add in the vanilla and simmer for 3 minutes.
  • Add in the chocolate chips and whisk continuously until they're melted. Reduce to a simmer.
  • If you want to add in the salt, add it in now.
  • Serve with desired toppings and enjoy!
