Ingredients

  • 3 yellow onions, sliced thin
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 Tbsp. butter, divided
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcester sauce
  • 1/2 Ib. roast beef, sliced thin
  • 1 1/2 cups Gruyere Cheese, shredded
  • 3 Tbsp. thyme leaves, divided
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • Fresh cracked black pepper

Instructions

  • Add olive oil to a pan and heat. Once warm add onions and cook 5 minutes stirring continuously.
  • Add 2 Tbsp. of butter and continue to stir until the onions caramelize. 
  • Before removing from pan mix in Worcestershire sauce and heat for one more minute.
  • Cut Hawaiian rolls in half and layer roast beef onto the bottoms. 
  • Then add the onions and grated Gruyère cheese.
  • Add pepper and 1/2 the thyme leaves. 
  • Place bun tops back on and brush with melted butter mixed with the garlic salt and onion powder.
  • Add on the rest of the thyme leaves. 
  • Tent with foil and bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 10 minutes. Serve immediately.
