With summer on the horizon and the sun setting later, we’ve been thinking about all the summer fun we can have outside again. I keep trying to convince Kevin to put the pool back up this year, but the jury is still out of whether or not he’s actually going to do it.
Here’s some outdoor games for families and friends I would suggest…
Backyard pro-like games
Backyard Lawn Bowling – This one is a lot of fun if you have the space or a nice deck/stretch of patio. I’ve found the pins are a bit tipsy on the grass but that will still work too!
Backyard Croquet – This game is a good time even if you’re not into the sport otherwise. It’s so fun to be able to have this right at home and play in the backyard.
Badminton – I always love playing this game! Kevin is a big tennis fan and this is asa close as we can get without an actual court. It’s fun for the whole family.
Nostalgic favorites
Giant Jenga – Technically, I don’t think this is “Jenga” but you get the idea. My family loves this game. It’s one of the ones we bough last year and it’s a blast to play out of the patio with kids of all ages and adults. I also happen to love the bag it comes with for storage!
Oversized Dice– For fans of the original dice game, you’ll love this big version that’s perfect for lawn playing.
Bocce Ball – This one is perfect for spring and summer nights! No court required, just a patch of green grass and a few friends.
Oversized Connect 4 – This is a game from my childhood! We love this one and the big game pieces are easy for little hands to use.
Toss games for those with aim
Toss and catch – One of the games everyone remembers from when they’re kids and one of the least expensive games to help start a backyard collection of outdoor games for family and friends.
Tower Ball – This game looks like so much fun! If you have family or friends who love to throw, this is one outdoor game for families that you must have.
Bean Bag Toss & Tic Tac Toe – I love this combo set of games! Everyone needs a bag toss for the backyard, why not get an oversized tic tac toe set too and make it a perfect set of outdoor games for families and friends?
Ladder Toss – This one is a great add to your outdoor games collection and it can actually be played inside too if you have room. Adults seem to enjoy this one a lot more than the kids, but don’t the adults need nice things too?
Thank you so much for stopping by, friends! I hope you enjoyed these ideas for outdoor games for families and that you find the perfect way to spend your outdoor evenings this season.

Ooo I love a lot of these. We need to play games this summer for sure!
The inner youngster in me that loved Alice in Wonderland loves any kind of oversized game, always makes me think of those scenes where she shrinks down and makes me feel like a tiny person.
Our favorite outdoor games are bocce and badminton. Oversized connect 4 looks great for our grandkids!
We have Bocce Ball and we really enjoy it. I wouldn’t mind getting a giant Connect 4.
I’ve been making an effort to spend more time outdoors this year so this is so helpful
Wow! These are all really great ideas for games with my family! This is so perfect thanks for sharing this with us!
Totally agree! As my girls are getting older and like to hang out outside more I need to add some of these to our collection!
Thanks for reminding of my old games. But I need to update my collection with new models.
I am along theses suggestions and we have several outdoor games that we love. Cornhole is out favorite 😉 and we just bought a basketball hoop!
We have a number of these. By far, the favorite for my family and our guests are the giant connect four and the new electronic darts that we just got.
We’re spending a lot of times outside so it’s good to find something new to do for the kids. Thanks for the ideas.
All these are the best ideal games that families play together. Thanks for sharing
We love oversize games. The connect 4 is really good fun, we’ve played that a few times before.
I love many of these games. While most are new to me, badminton is my absolute fav…and I’m quite good. Thanks for the variety of new options. I’m looking more closely into Ladder Toss. Cheers
We have a 3 in 1 out door games! It’s so much fun to get the family together
