I’m guilty of loving Pumpkin Spice Lattes. I don’t care if they’ve become cliche or taboo in pop culture (Why do we like to ruin people’s joy sometimes?) And every fall when that cooler weather starts to move in – those mornings when there’s frost on the grass and the first day you have to turn the heat on after spending a few days with the windows open – signals the start of pumpkin spice season for me. However, instead of always relaying on a Starbucks to to the work, I love to make Homemade Pumpkin Spice Lattes right in my own kitchen. The setting may not be as swanky as Starbucks, but here I can grab my homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte and curl up under a blanket on the porch, which frankly sounds better to me anyways.
Better tasting and cost cutting?
I also think we can all agree that a Starbucks habit can get expensive, fast. If I put the same amount of money I spend on coffee into a jar, we would have plenty of spending money for a vacation. It’s just sometimes really expensive to turn down the warm, perfectly-flavored, fall tasting coffee. But making a Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte is the perfect way to have those flavors you love in coffee and maybe save a little money too.
I originally made the Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte years ago on my mom blog. I was able to perfect it with just a few tries and I’m thrilled to say it might be even better than Starbucks. 🙂
And, possibly the best parts? You can use it with regular coffee since I know most of us don’t have an espresso machine, and this recipe makes enough to serve a group. It’s perfect for Halloween parties with parents and entertaining with desserts and coffee.
Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte is easy to make!
This Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte is creamy, smooth and with a flavor that allows you to enjoy both the fall spices and the coffee.
It’s really easy to make too. It’s actually so easy to make, I was shocked I hadn’t done it sooner. You don’t need very many ingredients. And, you probably have a few of them at home right now considering its fall.
The drink includes coffee, milk, pumpkin puree (You can find my recipe for Homemade Pumpkin Puree {HERE}), spices, vanilla and sweetened condensed milk. The recipe is basically making a specialized creamer for the latte itself. And it only takes about 10 minutes!
If you’re looking for cute mugs for serving, I like {THESE}. Our’s are from Crate & Barrel a million years ago. (When we got married.) But, the good news is, you can now find a set of four {HERE} for mush less than what we paid.
Tips for making Homemade Pumpkin Spice Lattes
- Have all your ingredients for the creamer mix ready to go when you turn on the heat. This moves fast and will only need about 5 minutes to cook.
- You can use store bought pumpkin puree for this but make sure it isn’t additionally sweetened. i used my own Homemade Pumpkin Puree you can find {HERE}.
- I would not try to substitute the sweetened condensed milk. But if you do, let me know how it works out!
- This recipe makes a lot of drinks so this is perfect for company. You get about 6 pumpkin spice creamers from this. If you want to make fewer drinks, cut the recipe in half. The measurements are very small if you try to only make a cup or two.
- I would not try to save the milk mixture for more than a day or two. Remember, it’s already milk that’s been heated. If you want to try and save it, put it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It is best when it’s fresh though.
Thank you so much for visiting today, friends! I hope you love the Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe. If you’re looking for other pumpkin recipes you have to try my amazing Pumpkin Bread {HERE} or these Pumpkin Cupcakes with cream cheese frosting {HERE}. For more fall recipes, click {HERE}.

Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte
Ingredients
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 3/4 cup whole milk You can use skim too or any milk substitute you are familiar with the taste profile.
- 5 Tbsp. plain pumpkin puree I make my own pumpkin puree to add to this and you can find a link to it above. But you can also use store bought puree. Just make sure it's not spiced at all.
- 1/2 Tbsp. pumpkin spice seasoning
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Coffee You can either make a pot or make it by the mugful.
Instructions
- Mix together milk and sweetened condensed milk over medium heat.
- Add in pumpkin, pumpkin spices and vanilla.
- Whisk continuously until it starts to froth.
- Make a cup of coffee. Make it in a cup that will allow plenty of room for the pumpkin spice mixture. (If you're making a pot then make it ahead of time.)
- Pour about 3-4 Tbsp. of the milk and pumpkin mix into your coffee. Taste to make sure that's the right mix for you. Enjoy!
