Last year I was on the hunt for sheet music Christmas signs to fill a space on the living room wall. Due to timing, sizes and an unfortunate bout of pneumonia, I never found what I was looking for.
That Christmas feeling
This season, we changed around the house a little bit and I had two blank spaces on either side of the tree in our family room above the media cabinets. And I was still dreaming about sheet music Christmas signs. I love the classic church songs, the ones you might hear at a midnight mass sung by a choir. I generally don’t talk about religion much here – and won’t because for me it’s a very private thing – but I was raised Catholic. And there is something about songs like The First Noel, O Holy Night and some of my other favorites that instantly make me feel better and literally feel Christmas.
They always remind me that Christmas isn’t something you do. It’s not a place that you go or even really who you are with. Christmas is something that you feel. And Christmas music can make me feel it – no matter where I am – all over again.
Our cozy Christmas signs
This year I was so thrilled to be able to find exactly what I was looking for last year. I found large, sheet music, Christmas signs on Etsy with a variety of songs available {HERE}.They instantly set the tone for the room and I love them.
I was able to fill in my blank walls above the media cabinets – which you can find {HERE} – with these Christmas signs and create a warm and cozy feeling in my family room for the holiday. They’re large and simple and I adore that. I’m fairly particular with art that we put on the walls. I don’t like it to feel like too much or too cluttered with smaller pieces. For me, large art is almost always the way I go and these signs really stand out in our space.
I used vintage, brass candles below them to give it a little more of a vintage, rustic feeling. If you’ve been following along then you know I’ve been using these candles throughout the winter and fall. They were a part of the Thanksgiving tablescape {HERE} and will be included in the Christmas tablescape. They’re all actually vintage or thrifted too so they were so inexpensive. (Please note: Never leave candles by paper signs unattended. Use a candle snuffer to smoother them instead of blowing them out.)
Seeing the candlelight with the signs instantly makes me feel likes it’s Christmas time, despite this being such a hard year overall.
Thoughts?
