Peach season happens at the end of the summer here and as my kids go back to school next week, we are surely kissing summer goodbye…even if Mother Nature doesn’t agree yet. But during these few short weeks, I love making as many peach dishes as possible! From cobblers, to salads and even drinks like this Peach Moscow Mule, I can’t get enough of peaches during stone fruit season.
While I’ve always been a Midwest girl, peaches (and nectarines) are actually some of my favorite fruit. For some reason, they remind me of my childhood and the Movie League of Their Own – perhaps one of my favorite movies growing up with the Georgia Peach ladies. I’m not sure life can get much better than Tom Hanks, Gina Davis, Rosie O’Donald and Madonna. Unless of course it’s Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan…Or Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah…There’s clearly a theme happening here.
Sweet & Simple Peach Moscow Mule
Whether or not you have a massive crush on Tom Hanks that has spanned your whole life, I’m hoping you develop a massive crush on this Peach Moscow Mule. It has just a few ingredients you might say it’s a girlie-kind-of-cocktail with all the sweetness that is infused into it from the peach nectar. Although, I kind of hate the idea that anything is a girlie drink.
The surprise comes in with the cinnamon simple syrup. It adds just a little bit of those fall flavors to the drink in an unexpected way, but flavor-wise it all blends together so well.
Make it in minutes
Making the Peach Moscow Mule is easy. In fact, it’s a drink you can whip up in minutes as long as you have the cinnamon simple syrup made in advance. I made mine 48 hours in advance and it’s just a simple combination of water, sugar and then you add in three cinnamon sticks.
To make the drink overall, I like to add it to a large mason jar and then pour it over ice in a glass. You simple mix peach nectar, vodka, fresh squeezed lime and the cinnamon simple syrup together. You can either add the ginger beer to the mix too or add it directly to the cups. I’ve done it both ways and while I enjoy it both ways, mixing the ginger beer directly in the mason jar will take a bit of the fizz out of it.
You can also increase the measurements and make this in a pitcher.
Tips for making the Peach Moscow Mule
- If you need storage jars for the cinnamon simple syrup, I use these {HERE}. I also use these lids for them {HERE}, which I find are better for refrigerated storage for mason jars.
- To find the peach nectar, check the international aisle at the grocery store. I usually find any nectar juices I need in the Hispanic section of the grocery store.
- As I mentioned above, if you want to maintain fizz, top the drinks with the ginger beer. My recipe will mix it in, but that’s how I like it best.
- Also as I said above, make the cinnamon simple syrup in advance. It takes just a few minutes to make but you want to make sure it has time to chill in the refrigerator before you need to use it. If you can’t make it the day before, make it the morning you intend to make the drinks.
- Most of the time, Moscow Mules are served in a copper mug but I served mine in these glasses so you could see them better. You can find the glasses from this post {HERE}, but if you want copper mugs, you can find them {HERE}.
