Make my Orange Creamsicle Mocktail for any festive occasion and enjoy the classic, nostalgic flavors of an Orange Creamsicle in a glass. The bright orange juice combines with creamy vanilla bean ice cream to give you a beautiful, cheery mocktail that you can enjoy throughout the year.
When it comes to celebrations, I love to have a fun drink option for me or my kids that we can enjoy. My family always used to have punch for us at parties and every now and then, I try to make sure my kids have something fun they can drink too. I am also not a huge drinker so mocktails are always something I tend to enjoy too. My Orange Creamsicle Mocktail is one of those bright and happy mocktails that is really perfect for any celebration. It is made like a float but really intended to be sipped so that the ice cream works its magic creates a creamy, orange drink that is reminiscent of the orange creamsicle popsicles.
The orange juice to use
If you can, use fresh squeezed orange juice with no added ingredients. Squeezing it from oranges is the best way to go but you can also use bottled orange juice if you want. You will get more of the orange color in the drink with a bottled orange juice. Anything with added sugar is going to obviously add to the sugar content of the drink. However, since this is a float-kind of drink that we would make for celebrations, I did not make this recipe with low sugar in mind.

Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
Because this is a float-like recipe, the vanilla bean ice cream is important. You want it to be vanilla bean instead of just vanilla to really get a nice, strong vanilla flavor in the Orange Creamsicle Mocktail that will play well with the orange juice. It also provides the creaminess to the drink and the flavor you would get when the ice cream and orange popsicle would combine perfectly in one bite. However, the idea is not to eat this with a spoon like you might a float but to let the ice cream combine with the orange juice and help to flavor the mocktail. The drink will get lighter and lighter as the ice cream melts. You can see some of the bean granules in my glass so just be aware those will be in there as the ice cream melts.

The soda to use
Like a float, the Orange Creamsicle Mocktail uses soda but I opted to use cream soda here to make sure the creaminess of the drink was reinforced. I also did not want to add any lemon lime kind of flavors but thought just a basic club soda would not be enough.
I recommend using the following cream soda brands: A&W, Jones Soda, Mug, Stewarts, Virgil’s Vanilla Cream Soda or IBC. Personally, I do not recommend using Olipop, Zevia or anything like that unless you are a true fan of those brand’s flavors. I tried the drink with them and I honestly did not enjoy it as much. However, I used to work for a sweetener company where I was trained to pick up different sweeteners (stevia, aspartame, etc.) in drinks and I just do not like them. So this might be a me problem.

Do you want to add alcohol?
If you want to add alcohol I recommend adding vodka to each glass individually. I would recommend adding 2 oz per glass, but you can add less too. If you can, getting a whipped cream vodka would be the best option and blend well with the Orange Creamsicle flavors.
