This one is for the Chocolate lover in your life! Whether that’s you or a family member, this no bake Chocolate Lasagna dessert recipe is something you need to make and will probably be asked to make again and again.
Easy works too
Even though I generally like to stick to desserts and recipes made from scratch here, I know that sometimes we all just need something easy and delicious too. That’s where this No Bake Chocolate Lasagna dessert recipe falls.
Because it’s no bake, it makes the perfect dessert for summer when you don’t want to heat up the house. But it’s also fairly uncomplicated, and there’s nothing anyone can burn if baking isn’t your thing.
It also travels well, which makes it perfect for potlucks at work and parties with friends and family. Plus, you have to make a casserole dish of this delicious dessert so it’s really wonderful for large gatherings.
Chocolate Lasagna dessert recipe layers of goodness
There’s four layer sin this Chocolate Lasagna dessert recipe that really make it a standout for anyone who loves chocolate. They are:
Oreo cookie crust: This provides the perfect base for the Chocolate Lasagna. All you have to do is mix crushed Oreos with melted butter and then press it into the pan. I freeze mine for 30 minutes afterwards.
No-bake Chocolate Cheesecake Mousse Layer: This might be my favorite layer! Such amazing chocolate cheesecake without worrying about it falling while baking in the oven! It gets whipped until it’s fluffy and then put in the freezer for 1 hour.
Pudding with mini marshmallows: This is my son’s favorite layer. He is my chocolate love (and Kevin too), but also LOVES marshmallows. This layer is his combination made in heaven. I like to make this layer dense, so it doesn’t get melty too fast when serving. Let it set before adding it to the baking dish. Then once it’s added to the top I stick it in the freezer for another hour.
Whipped Cream Layer: Lastly, this all gets topped off with a layer of whipped cream. You can make this layer from scratch (and I’ll give you the recipe below) or you can use pre-made whipped topping and save some time. This is topped off with chocolate drizzle, more marshmallows and mini chocolate chips. It gets added to the freezer again for another hour.
Tips for making this Chocolate Lasagna dessert recipe
- Use a blender or a food processor to chop up the Oreos. You can do this without those appliances by crushing it in a plastic bag, but trust me, it’s much easier using a food processor. You can find the one I use {HERE}. I prefer it for any crusts that use cookies, my homemade pesto {HERE} and salsa!
- You want the cream cheese to be softened before using it so take it out first thing in the morning before you make this.
- You will find other recipes that say to put this in the refrigerator for 5 minutes between each layer, but honestly, it all holds up much better when you freeze it and let it have some time. I realize this makes it take a little longer to make than you might like but you will get really nice pieces this way instead of a runny pile of pudding.
- Freeze between each layer and then take it out an hour before serving. You can add it to the fridge or leave it on the counter to begin thawing.
