This year I’ve been working on really making the barn a space you can live in. Prior to this year we finished construction on the space and then I’ve used it randomly. We’ve had guests stay there, but I never fully decorated it like it was part of our home. This summer, I finished off the bedroom space and this fall we finally pulled a table out of storage to create a place to sit and have coffee. I got right to work on decorating it and created this small, neutral fall tablescape to make the space feel warm and inviting.
For this neutral fall tablescape for a small space, I wanted to create something with found objects around out home and natural elements. Since we decided on more Halloween décor this year with our Withcy Fireplace and the Harry Potter entryway, I didn’t realize how badly I was craving Earthy neutrals and coziness.
Finding neutral fall tablescape items at home
First, I had previously purchased some dried florals from Alfloral for another project. I love that they have actual dried florals and not just faux florals. Until the day we can grow some of these plants on the farm and I can dry them myself, I think Alfloral is the way to go. Aren’t these just beautiful?
Once I had my florals in place I added in some of my favorite objects – brad, vintage candles sticks and some books. I love the warmth the candle sticks instantly bring to the space.
The books help to create height for the neutral fall tablescape. They can also be something fun to flip through when sipping a cup of coffee or munching on a Pumpkin Cupcake. Because they’re muted from age, almost any color will work for a similar scene in your home.
Adding in familiar favorites
Then I went to add in textiles. The pillows on the chairs, the blanket – you might recognize them from this post {HERE}. Sometimes changing out decor for a season is really just about moving things around. I love adding navy blue into my fall décor because it is truly one of my favorite colors. And I believe it shows how you can really use any color to bring the fall season to life.
The navy blue napkins are from {HERE} and I’ve actually used them in past Christmas tablescapes too. The color is truly versatile, and it fits seamlessly into a neutral fall tablescape. I bought those napkin rings around the same time and love how they work with the candlesticks. You can see them in this Thanksgiving post.If they’re out of stock, this one {HERE} is a nice option too.
The vases that hold the flowers from Alfloral are also reused pieces too. The cream colored one holding the fall grasses is from earlier this spring and you can find it {HERE}. The gold vase is one I actually have in several places around our home. It was on my fireplace makeover and it will be featured in the basement when it’s finally completed. (I think we are in the home stretch!)
Textures bring it to life
The faux grass woven pumpkin and wooden pumpkin in the post are newer items. I purchased them in August with the idea that they would be wonderful addition to some harvest décor in the basement. But…they work well here to really make this space sing.
You can also find texture on the wall pieces. I purchased the pieces on the wall for the bedroom space and they didn’t really work out. But I love how the chippy white paint works with our shiplap in the barn space. Combined with the metal on the pieces, they really lend themselves to making the space cohesive. You can find the Cornhusk Pumpkin {HERE} and small Woodchip Pumpkin {HERE}.
The same goes for the ladder on the wall. It’s always been in the barn space and you’ve probably seen it in the past in some of my Christmas décor.
One last piece…
Lastly, I added a black pitcher from our store to the neutral fall tablescape. No, you can’t get it yet. I’ve been slower than molasses to get the store up and going. I honestly think part of it is about fear. Fear of the process, fear of failure and fear of jumping into something that will take a lot more work.
Oh and those pumpkin muffins that look so scrumptious on the table? Those are my Pumpkin Muffins with Cream Cheese Frosting that are a perfect little fall bite of autumn in the shape of a small cake. 🙂 You can find them {HERE}.
Thank you so much for reading and visiting today! I hope my neutral fall tablescpe for a small space inspires you and I hope to see you again here at Sugar Maple Farmhouse. For more decor from the farmhouse, click {HERE}.

That is such a lovely idea. I love the colours used as they certainly are perfect for Autumn.
Such a gorgeous tablescape, I love that there’s even pumpkins beside the table.
I loved how you decorated without overcrowding the space. Beautiful.
I agree with things just moving them around. Decorations don’t have to be new every year.
This is just adorable and perfect for a small space. I love the look. Neutral goes so far.

This is nice and classy. I also prefer something neutral. Thank you for the inspiration. Love that you chose blue napkins. It blended well and added life to it.
Love your design style. The neutral fall tables cape is right up my alley! Perfect for any size space.
This is such a pretty space you have created, very cozy and comfortable for the fall. I love the vase and the dried grasses. As a floral designer I have been using a lot of pampas grasses the trick is to spray them with hairspray to keep them from shedding!
I love how this looks for a small table. It is perfect for the season.
I’m absolutely obsessed with your sense of style!
So cute! I love how this set up is.
You always have the best doctor tips and everything always looks amazing 😉 I am loving this look for sure!
