This one is for my kids, and your kids too. Sometimes I think that we in the farmhouse and home community tend to be a little serious. But, I have children who just want to be kids and enjoy holidays the way children would – with color, candy, treats and fun. For Halloween, that means making a few treats in October like these Halloween Candy Corn Rice Krispie Treats.
I made my Halloween Candy Corn Rice Krispie Treats for the first time a few years ago. In 2020, I featured them on my Instagram channel for the first time. And then I made a quick vertical video in 2021 and it took off on Instagram and Tik Tok. So, I thought that I’d share the fun over here too.
My kids love these and they really do make the perfect treat for any kind of Halloween party. With this recipe, it doesn’t matter if you love candy corn or hate it. The Candy Corn Rice Krispies bring the fun and put the treat in trick-or-treat.
Making Halloween Candy Corn Rice Krispie Treats
The Halloween Candy Corn Rice Krispie Treats will take about 10 minutes to make. In order to make them you will need a round cake pan. I think you could also use a springform cake pan. I’ve never tried that before but I actually think it might be easier to use.
You will also need food coloring. You can use regular food coloring or if you prefer there are now natural food coloring kits out on the market. The only problem I’ve run into with natural food coloring is that sometimes it tends to not be the actual color I want. For instance, red might turn out a little more pink, blue might be a little more purple, etc. This dye {HERE} is plant-based and seems to work well. Just beware, the box is tiny!
The last things you will need are a couple bags of marshmallows, a bit of butter and a large box of rice crispy treats. I use the large marshmallows for the Halloween Candy Corn Rice Krispie Treats but you can also use the smaller ones. Just know the melting time may be a little different.
Tips for making Candy Corn Rice Krispie Treats
- You want to oil the round cake pan with olive oil or a spray olive oil. Because I don’t want extra oil on my Halloween Candy Corn Rice Krispie Treats, I like to put a little olive oil on a paper towel and wipe it around the pan.
- This recipe uses a lot of bowls. You can wash pans in between steps if you want to use less. However, I find that prepping everything in advance and having everything in the separate bowls before you start makes this go faster.
- When shaping the Halloween Candy Corn Rice Krispie Treats, I recommend you make your hands wet. Having wet hands will make the sticky marshmallow easier to work with. Just don’t over wet them so you end up with wet Candy Corn Rice Krispie Treats.
- Like pie, removing the first treat will be the more difficult. Run a knife around the pan and through the slices a couple of times to ensure nothing is sticking. I then use a pie server to remove the slice. You can see in the video above.
- This recipe will make enough for 1 thick set of Halloween Candy Corn Rice Krispie Treats or two thinner sets of the treats.
Thank you so much for visiting today, friends! I hope that you enjoy this treat and that your family loves it. For more Halloween posts, click {HERE}. Happy Halloween!
