It’s been almost two years since we completed our renovation on the barn, and believe it or not, I’ve never truly shown the finished product. At least not all decked out and decorated like I’m going to show you today with the neutral farmhouse bedroom decor. There are two reasons for that.
- I’m slow. I like to take my time finding pieces, making sure they’re right, and I often hem and haw about things for quite a while.
- Due to No. 1, I never feel like this space has been done or complete. It also often works as extra storage for pieces I’m shuffling around.
So, all that said, it’s high time I show it off a bit. And what better place to start than the barn farmhouse bedroom with some beautiful neutral bedroom decor?
In partnership with Mark & Day, I’m so excited to finally show you this completed space and I hope that you love it as much as I do. Or, at least as much as our guests will.
Mark & Day Area Rugs
Normally when I’m starting a room, there’s one piece I’ll look to tie everything together. Since Mark & Day gifted me the Var Traditional Gray Area Rug, that was the piece I used as the item to bring it all into focus.
I picked this rug because it wasn’t white or just beige. I have nothing against those colors and have them everywhere. In fact, I consider this neutral bedroom décor. However, I wanted to bring in blues and a little more warmth to the barn farmhouse bedroom. This rug with its hints of yellow-green in particular felt warm and inviting. As summer starts to wind down, it felt like the perfect rug to get me excited about the cost colors of fall.
I also love the size of this rug. At 9’x12’, it’s huge and really covers the space in the barn farmhouse bedroom area well.
Other elements in the farmhouse bedroom
Several other design elements in the farmhouse bedroom were also provided by Mark & Day.
The Brunner Traditional Table Lamps on the bedside tables really help to offset the room and balance the presence of the bed. I love how they seem to be the bookends for the bed itself and aren’t just an afterthought. You can find them {HERE}.
The Nijkerk Traditional Wall Mirrors on the wall are also from Mark & Day and I picked them specifically because the gray-blue color helps to pull out the blues in the rug. I also love the design. I appreciate a lot of straight lines in design, but I always like to add something with a little flourish and curve to add some femininity. You can find them {HERE}.
The Blankenberge Ivory Throw from Mark & Day is another pretty touch for the neutral bedroom decor, and it helps to bring a lot of texture to the bed space. A few shades darker than the bedding, the throw helps to pull the whole space together with the pillows and some of the dark neutrals from the rug up. You can find it {HERE}.

Antiques in the space
There are a few antiques in the space that help to make it unique. First, the dresser is one of those antiques. It has a bit of a French Country look and it adds more of that femininity too to the neutral bedroom decor.
The luggage rack is an antique also. While it’s not a huge feature in the space, it is a useful one since this is our guest space.
A few of the items on the bedside table are also antiques. All the books are found items. I used to believe spending my money on antique books was a waste of money. But now I’ve changed my tune. I will buy them if they are classics, poetry, about plants or about writing.
Basically, I will buy them if they were a book I would read about a topic that interests me. I really do think the details set the room a part and the books become a huge part of that, especially when it comes to creating a neutral bedroom.
The bedside bell, the metal box, candlestick on the dresser and the watering can are also antiques. However, you can find similar items at the links below!

Farm house decor is so aesthetically pleasing! Especially for a bedroom where you don’t need bright bold colors that distract from relaxing sleep!
