Make this easy Pomegranate Pina Colada as a fun twist on a beloved summer drink to make a Christmas Pina Colada!
Do you like Pina Coladas? What about getting lost in the rain?
Sign me up for the pina coladas, but maybe not so much being lost in the rain. I guess I’m not really an adventurous kind of girl anymore who should be answering “wanted” ads in the personal section.
But I’m not into yoga so maybe there’s still hope. 🙂
Pina Coladas are my favorite tropical drink. They remind me of summer, vacations and lazy days of doing noting while wiggling my toes in the sand. I honestly can’t tell you the last time I has a vacation where I could just sit on the sand and have drinks. But, the idea is still desirable. And a pina colada can transport me there – at least in my head – all the time.
So, I thought I might bring a little bit of that beachy, lazy-day feel to Christmas. With all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, I think we all might need a pina colada break.
Flavors in the Christmas Pina Colada
My Pomegranate Pina Colada combines a little bit of winter fruity flavor with that summer coconut cream in pina coladas. The flavor combination makes this Christmas Pina Colada so merry!
There’s really only four ingredients in my Christmas Pina Colada and I love how easy it is to make. Anything that makes holiday entertaining easier is something I can get behind!
All you need to make this is pomegranate juice, your favorite Pina Colada mix (I used Island Oasis.), Malibu Rum and ice. In fact, if you want to keep this non-alcoholic, you can even skip the Malibu. Just make sure to use a good pina colada base.
Additional things for the Pomegranate Pina Colada
Aside from the ingredients, you need to use a blender to make this so just make sure to have one handy. I have this one {HERE} from Ninja and I love it. It works for everything from drinks to soup to salsa.
Other than that, I always like a few toppings to make it look pretty! I include pomegranate seeds, a slice of a mandarin orange and a sprig of fresh rosemary.
You can even mix those things into your drink if you want. After making this my rosemary sunk into the drink and I LOVED the extra flavor it added. I was actually surprised by it.
Also, don’t forget the straws. This isn’t really a drink you can sip since it will be blended.
Tips for making the Pomegranate Pina Colada
- Have all your ingredients prepped and ready. This recipe goes fast!
- Serve immediately. If you have a few minutes before you need it, stick it in the freeze to help hold the ice. Don’t go over 15 minutes.
- I use sweetened pomegranate juice for this and the brand I use is Pom Wonderful. It’s part of the reason it goes so fast.
Doesn’t it look fun? What do you think of the Pomegranate Pina Colada as a little Christmas Pina Colada?
