If you are hosting the holidays – or just any regular dinner party – and need a quick appetizer that is delicious but also hands off, my Baked Brie with Grapes and Honey is exactly what you are looking for. This effortless appetizer will wow your guests but also allow you to spend more time with them since it does not need your attention beyond a little prep work. It is an elegant way to start off an evening of festivities. Here is how to make it.
Finding a baking dish
First, you will need an oven safe baking dish for the brie that is not too large. I have this baking dish {HERE} that is specific for brie. If you do not have a brie baking dish and do not want to buy one, I would just suggest using a dish for the Bake Brie with Grapes and Honey that is no larger than 8×8 and is either glass or ceramic. I would stay away from metal and anything that is overly large.

Scoring the brie
Once you have a proper dish, there really is not much to the Bake Brie with Grapes and Honey recipe and it can be prepped in about 5 minutes. You will probably need to wait for the oven to pre-heat longer than you need to work on your brie. You simply want to place the brie into the center of the baking dish and then score the top. Scoring the brie makes the cheese easier to dig into for guests once it is cooked and it allows your ingredients to sink into the brie itself so people can get flavor in each bite. Take a knife and cut the brie horizontally and vertically all the way across. Cut about 1/3 of the way down into the cheese wheel.
The benefits of the grapes
Once the brie is cut, I add in the red grapes. The sweetness of the grapes contrasts so well with the creamy, savoriness of the brie. The acidity of the grapes also helps to cut through the richness of the cheese, and cooking the grapes brings out a beautiful caramelization too. Together the grapes and melty brie are truly a lovely flavor combination.
You can either leave the grapes whole or cut some of them in half to make it easier for guests. However, they will become soft enough in the oven to spoon onto bread or may even burst, which is perfectly fine too.

Topping it all off
Once the grapes have been added I drizzle on a little extra virgin olive oil, honey and then top it all off with some fresh thyme leaves. Then it goes into the oven for 30 minutes. When it is done, I like to add on some halved walnuts for a little nuttiness and crunch. However, the beauty of this recipe is that you can really top off the brie in whatever way you like. Prefer pecans? Use those instead. Don’t like thyme? Leave it out. The Baked Brie with Grapes and Honey is really one of those recipes you can make your own.
